Kharkiv state zoo veterinary academy is one of the oldest academy for veterinary medicine in Ukraine.

Kharkiv state zoo veterinary academy was established in 1851 as a college for veterinary medicine in the second largest city of Ukraine,Kharkiv.

In 1873 Kharkiv state zoo veterinary academy was awarded the name of Kharkiv veterinary institute.

Later in 2001 this animals sciences institute was given the status of Kharkiv state zoo veterinary academy.
